- ½ cup confectioners’ sugar

Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 12-cup muffin pan with cupcake liners.
- Prepare the Cupcake Batter: In a large bowl, cream the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract. In another bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, alternating with milk. Mix until well combined.
- Bake the Cupcakes: Divide the batter evenly among the prepared muffin cups. Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a cupcake comes out clean. Allow cupcakes to cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Prepare the Frosting: In a medium bowl, whip heavy cream until it starts to thicken. Add confectioners’ sugar and continue whipping until stiff peaks form. Pipe or spread the whipped cream onto the cooled cupcakes.
- Caramelize Sugar Topping: Sprinkle a thin, even layer of granulated sugar on top of the frosted cupcakes. Using a kitchen torch, gently caramelize the sugar until it melts and turns golden brown. Be careful not to burn the sugar.
Notes
- Make sure the cupcakes are completely cool before frosting to prevent the frosting from melting.
- If you don’t have a kitchen torch, you can place the cupcakes under a broiler for a few seconds, but watch carefully to avoid burning.
- For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of salt to the caramelized sugar to add a delightful contrast.
