A delightful and festive Yule log cake perfect for Christmas celebrations!

- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 5 large eggs
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Green food coloring
- Sprinkles (red, green, and white)
- Edible gold stars (for decoration)
- Assorted edible Christmas ornaments (for decoration)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 15×10-inch jelly roll pan with parchment paper.
- Prepare Cake Batter: In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. In a separate large bowl, beat eggs and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Stir in vanilla extract. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Bake the Cake: Spread the batter evenly onto the prepared pan. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cake springs back when touched. Immediately after baking, invert the cake onto a clean kitchen towel dusted with powdered sugar. Remove parchment paper. Roll the cake and towel together, starting with the narrow end. Cool completely.
- Prepare the Whipped Cream: In a large bowl, beat the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form. Gently fold in green food coloring until you achieve the desired shade.
- Assemble the Yule Log: Unroll the cooled cake and spread a layer of green whipped cream over the surface. Carefully roll the cake back up without the towel. Frost the outside of the cake with more green whipped cream.
- Decorate: Sprinkle red, green, and white sprinkles over the cake. Decorate with edible gold stars and Christmas ornaments as desired.
