Description

This delicious layered cake combines chocolate and strawberry flavors, perfect for any celebration.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup strawberry puree

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line three round cake pans with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in milk and vanilla.
  3. Divide batter into three bowls: mix cocoa powder into one for chocolate flavor, strawberry puree into another for strawberry flavor, and leave the last as plain vanilla.
  4. Pour batters into prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in pans before transferring to wire racks.
  5. Once cooled, stack layers with frosting between them and cover the entire cake with frosting.
