Enjoy your delicious Caramel Apple Dessert Tacos!
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large apples, peeled and diced
- 1 cup cream cheese, softened
- 6 small flour tortillas
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- Caramel sauce (for drizzling, optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Tortillas: In a bowl, mix granulated sugar and half of the cinnamon. Heat the tortillas in a skillet over medium heat until they are slightly crispy. While still warm, coat each tortilla in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
- Make the Apple Filling: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the diced apples, brown sugar, remaining cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cook until the apples become soft and the mixture is syrupy, about 8-10 minutes. Stir in the vanilla extract and remove from heat.
- Prepare the Cream Cheese Filling: In a bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. You can sweeten the cream cheese with a little powdered sugar if desired.
- Assemble the Tacos: Fill each sugar-coated tortilla with a layer of cream cheese. Top with the warm apple mixture. Drizzle with caramel sauce if using.
Notes
- For extra crunch, you can slightly fry the tortillas before coating them in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
- To enhance flavor, consider adding a splash of lemon juice to the apple mixture to balance the sweetness.
- Experiment with different types of apples for varied texture and taste.
- These tacos are best served warm but can be stored and lightly reheated.
