Description
This delicious homemade bread is made in a bread machine for convenience.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup warm water (about 85F)
- 3 tablespoons molasses (not blackstrap)
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons oil (like olive oil)
- 3 ¼ cups sifted all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 2 teaspoons bread machine yeast
Instructions
- Add the ingredients to your bread machine in the order given by the manufacturer. It will likely be the order listed above.
- Press the basic or white bread cycle. Adjust the crust setting. I like to use the lightest setting as the molasses and honey can cause the bread to overbrown with darker cycles.
- This recipe will make a 1 pound loaf.
- Once the cooking time has ended, remove the bread and let it cool on a wire cooling rack for about 30 minutes before slicing and serving with plenty of butter.
Notes
- This bread has a wonderfully sweet flavor thanks to the molasses and honey.
- The use of cocoa powder gives the bread a rich color but does not impart a strong chocolate flavor.
- Store any leftover bread in an airtight container to keep it fresh.
