Description

Delicious rolls filled with blueberries and cream cheese, topped with a sweet glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • ½ cup warm milk
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
  • ½ cup cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Make the Dough: In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk. Let it sit until it becomes frothy, about 5 minutes. In a large bowl, combine flour and sugar. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg. Mix well until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1-2 hours.
  2. Prepare the Filling: In a medium bowl, mix together cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Gently fold in the blueberries.
  3. Assemble the Rolls: Roll out the dough into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick. Spread the cream cheese and blueberry mixture evenly over the dough. Roll the dough tightly from the long edge to form a log. Cut the log into rolls about 1 inch thick. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  4. Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Prepare the Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, cream cheese, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and pourable. Drizzle the glaze over the warm rolls.

Notes

  • Ensure the milk is warm but not hot to avoid killing the yeast.
  • If using frozen blueberries, thaw and drain them before use to prevent excess moisture.
  • For an extra touch, sprinkle some almonds or lemon zest on top before serving.
